The Ponta Delgada Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIPD) has proposed that Visit Azores receive an annual budget of at least €15 million for 2027-2029, up from the roughly €8 million approved for 2026, which the association calls insufficient given limited execution capacity (only about half of the 2025 budget is expected to be used). The proposal calls for at least €7 million per year dedicated to marketing campaigns starting January 2027, alongside a dedicated multi-year plan to attract and consolidate air routes, prioritising markets such as the US, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain and the Netherlands, while gradually developing emerging markets like Brazil and Mexico. The association frames the strategy as key to reducing seasonality by extending flight operations over more of the year and improving temporal distribution of visitors across the archipelago's islands.
