Cyprus is set to revolutionize its tourism industry by aligning with the European Tourism Agenda 2030. Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis, speaking at a Nicosia conference on 27th November 2025, outlined the nation's plan to modernize the sector through sustainable means, digital tools, and resilience-focused initiatives. Concentrating on five core pillars—green transitions, digital advancements, resilience, inclusivity, and skills development—the strategy promises to benefit both visitors and local communities. With over €20 million allocated to support rural businesses, hotel operators, and digital platform development, Cyprus aims to distribute tourism benefits more evenly across its landscapes.

The plan also emphasizes the urgency of updating the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment to address climate change impacts, ensuring tourism growth respects the island’s unique ecosystems. Supported by government and industry leaders like Stek President Akis Vavlitis, Cyprus is on track to maintain its competitiveness while fostering quality in sustainable tourism.
