The celebrations coincided with European Tourism Day in Brussels, where key industry leaders gathered to discuss innovation and sustainability in tourism. Dolores Ordóñez, D3HUB coordinator representing AnySolution, took the stage during the session dedicated to AI and Data, highlighting the project’s commitment to data-driven decision making for smarter, more sustainable tourism. The event also featured European Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas, emphasizing the EU’s support for technological and ecological innovation in the sector.

Building on this momentum, the D3HUB consortium hosted a major meeting on January 27 at the Tourism Flanders premises, bringing together 40 Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) to officially close the pilot phase of the project. The gathering included participation from Misa Labarile of the European Commission and experts from the four clusters in which the DMOs have collaborated over the past year.

This event not only marked the successful conclusion of the pilot phase but also fostered synergies and networking opportunities, reinforcing collaboration within the European tourism ecosystem.

The following days saw D3HUB partners convene for an internal strategy meeting, where discussions centered on:

  • Next steps for the project, ensuring the long-term impact of its initiatives.
  • Implementation of dashboards and strategies for continuous data collection.
  • Development of a sustainability plan for the competence centre, guaranteeing operational continuity beyond EU funding.

D3HUB is transforming the way tourism destinations leverage data and technology, ensuring a sustainable and intelligent future for Europe’s tourism sector said Dolores Ordóñez.
