The forum, organised by Lithuania's Ministry of Economy and Innovation, brought together a representative from Tampere (2026 European Capital of Smart Tourism), a representative from Panevėžys (shortlisted as a European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism destination), and tourism experts from across Europe to discuss the next steps in tourism innovation. Vice-Minister of the Economy and Innovation Guoda Burokienė said the government sees technology as fundamentally reshaping both the traveller experience and destinations' competitiveness, and framed the event as part of a broader effort to position Lithuania as a source of tourism-related innovation, with a particular focus on digital tools and artificial intelligence applications in the sector.
