Destination Lofoten has launched the “Lofoten the Green Islands 2030” programme in Norway, aiming to achieve a sustainable and resource-smart society in the region. Embracing the European Commission's Tourism Transition Pathway, they pledge to integrate green and digital transitions, enhancing ecosystem resilience. By 2030, Lofoten aims to become a low-emission destination powered by renewable energy, featuring sustainable adventures in nature, culture, and food, while fostering local community partnerships. The initiative involves climate accounting for tourism businesses, a 60% reduction in greenhouse gases from the industry, and promoting emission-free transport options. With the collaboration of six municipalities and Lofotkraft, Destination Lofoten is set to lead sustainable growth in tourism. Follow their journey and progress through the provided link.
