The city of Bremerhaven developed the Bremerhaven 2025 tourism concept in 2018, which will be updated to the 2030 tourism concept from mid-2024. In the various business areas: Fishing experience, harbour experience, worlds of knowledge and experience as well as MICE and accessibility are the key topics.
Tourism is very important for the seaside city of Bremerhaven, far beyond the direct economic effects. In addition to achieving important image, value creation and employment effects, tourism makes a decisive contribution to improving the quality of life and securing Bremerhaven as a place to live and do business. However, despite strong growth figures in recent years and outstanding infrastructure developments in Bremerhaven, the tourism industry is facing major challenges. The competitive requirements and tasks are becoming increasingly diverse, extensive and demanding. In addition, competitive pressure and substantial changes in marketing and sales require a significant professionalisation and focusing of tourism management organisations and systematically coordinated cooperation within the tourism industry.
Various projects have been initiated and implemented in the individual priority areas in recent years. Various subsidies and state funds have been used for implementation in recent years.
