The Accessibility Plan for People with Disabilities from Strömsunds Municipality, updated in 2016, aims to enhance accessibility for individuals with disabilities by outlining the responsibilities of various municipal departments and organizations to ensure an inclusive environment. It replaces the previous disability policy programme (2001-2010) and emphasises the importance of accessibility for all. The plan defines key terms such as disability, impairment, and accessibility and references guiding documents like the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Sweden’s national disability policy. Furthermore, it details the roles of municipal bodies and user organisations, includes a continuous dialogue with the Accessibility Council, and sets specific goals and actions to improve accessibility, such as staff training and installing assistive listening devices (The original piece available only in Swedish).
