Representatives from major European cities (Spain, Estonia, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, and Austria) and public transport organisations signed a new declaration in Barcelona on 5 November 2024 to support the development of sustainable and attractive public transport systems that guarantee daily mobility for people in European cities. The signatories of this declaration commit to promoting sustainable, resilient, and inclusive public transport, enhancing multimodal integration, addressing affordability, preparing for climate adaptation, improving sector attractiveness, and prioritising public transport in smart mobility strategies. The declaration also calls for support from European policymakers to facilitate the transition to zero-emission mobility and to prioritise public transport in urban planning.
