The Green Skills 2030 document, published by SOLAS (the state agency responsible for Further Education and Training in Ireland) on 15 October 2024, is the first National Further Education & Training (FET) Strategy for the Green Transition. This strategy outlines the Irish FET sector’s response to emerging green skills needs.

Developed by SOLAS in partnership with KPMG and in consultation with various education boards, public bodies, government departments, and key industry stakeholders, it details how FET can equip learners with the skills needed to build a workforce that supports a green economy and an inclusive society.

The document provides an analysis of green skills development, industry and Education and Training Boards' (ETBs) perspectives on green skills needs and training, along with strategic and sectoral recommendations, and next steps for implementing the strategy. It considers seven economic sectors, including the Tourism and Hospitality industry, offering an analysis of industry perspectives and recommendations.

Overall, the strategy represents a significant step towards building a sustainable and resilient economy in Ireland, preparing the workforce for the challenges and opportunities of a greener future.
