ADVANCE CIRCULAR – Linking the Tourism Industry with VET to Embrace Circularity is a project co-funded by the European Union. It aims to promote innovative circular economy practices and tools within the tourism sector by strengthening its connection with vocational education and training (VET).

Coordinated by the National Institute of Research and Development in Tourism (Romania), the project has the following objectives:

  • Deepen understanding of how the Circular Economy (CE) impacts the tourism industry and VET, particularly in terms of preparedness and required skills
  • Strengthen the capabilities of organisations and professionals through supportive tools
  • Create practical learning environments using Design Thinking methodologies
  • Raise awareness and build capacity to effectively utilise the project’s outcomes

Running from October 2023 to September 2025, the project will deliver:

  • Two analytical studies: one mapping the tourism sector’s readiness for circular economy practices, and another identifying the skills needed for a green and circular transition
  • Three innovative tools to support the tourism industry and VET in adopting circular economy principles, including guidelines, a skills taxonomy, and a digital card set
  • Design Thinking-based learning resources for tourism and VET professionals, including a Training Pack and a Transnational Training Programme.
