The TOURAL project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Programme, aims to promote sustainable tourism growth in rural and remote areas across Europe. Coordinated by a consortium of 20 partners from eight countries, it focuses on cultural and creative tourism as a means to diversify local economies and strengthen regional cooperation. The project addresses niche tourism sectors such as underwater heritage, silver tourism, and cultural science tourism, using a multi-dimensional, participatory, and integrated approach. Running from January 2024 to December 2026, its expected outcomes include co-designed tourism policies, co-created business models, small-scale pilot implementations, and enhanced macro-regional collaboration in the Adriatic-Ionian and Black Sea Basin regions.
