The “Tourist Itineraries for Sustainable Mobility” project, spearheaded by Barbara Trincone from the Department of Economics and Statistics at the University of Salerno, aimed to develop sustainable tourist routes in the Salento region of southern Italy. Released on July 8, 2024, this initiative, part of the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy cross-border cooperation program, utilized analytical methods and stakeholder engagement to link key landscape, architectural, and historical sites. The project was significant for promoting sustainable tourism, mitigating seasonal tourism pressures, and enhancing the region’s appeal while ensuring environmental sustainability.
