The "Become a Supporter" initiative for the Debeli rtič Landscape Park in Ankaran, Slovenia, was highlighted among the good sustainable practices of Slovenia Green certified destinations for 2026. Visitors sign a short pledge to follow the park's rules, and more than 1,500 people had done so when the practice was assessed.

The park covers 340 hectares, 160 of them at sea, and forms part of the Natura 2000 network. Instead of presenting rules as a list of prohibitions, the initiative explains them in a simple and accessible way, both on land and at sea, and invites visitors to commit to them. On land, supporters promise to stay on designated paths, keep dogs on a leash, take their waste with them and use the designated parking areas. At sea, they commit to navigating motorised vessels outside the protected area, anchoring appropriately and respecting the ban on fishing and collecting marine organisms within it.
The assessor noted in particular how clearly visitors are informed about the rules and involved in protecting the area. For managers of other protected coastal sites facing seasonal visitor pressure, the pledge is a low-cost, easy-to-replicate way of turning visitor information into a shared commitment, with 1,524 supporters recorded at the time the assessment was published.
