The Mediterranean is one of the world's most visited marine destinations — yet the professionals who bring it to life often lack the training to do so sustainably.

WellNaTour is an Erasmus+ project with the sea at its core: a blended training programme for marine tourism professionals, built around blue economy principles, marine conservation, and well-being-oriented experiences.

Because sustainable marine tourism doesn't happen by itself — it takes skilled, committed people to make it real.

The Challenge

The gap between wanting to offer sustainable experiences and actually knowing how to deliver them is wider than most people think. For marine tourism professionals across the Mediterranean, that gap has a real cost — for businesses, for communities, and for the sea itself.

What WellNaTour Is

WellNaTour is an Erasmus+ KA210-VET project connecting EcoMarine Malta and Italy's Centro Provinciale di Formazione Professionale "G. Pastore". Together, they are developing a blended training programme — online self-learning combined with in-person workshops — specifically designed for marine tourism professionals across Malta and Liguria.

The result? A replicable, cross-border model, that doesn't just talk about sustainable tourism, but builds the people who deliver it.

What the Training Covers

The programme covers five key areas: marine conservation and environmental sustainability, blue economy principles, intercultural competence, mental well-being and transformative travel, and sustainable business strategies.

Who Can Participate

The training is open to tour operators, travel agencies, hospitality managers, eco-tourism providers, and VET educators. A pilot cohort of 10 professionals (5 from Malta, 5 from Italy) will test the programme through real-world study visits and peer mentorship, before broader rollout.
