The PriMaaS project, supported by the Interreg Europe programme, has recognised an integrated metropolitan ticketing initiative implemented by the local authority in Timișoara, Romania, as a good practice. This initiative enables passengers to use a single ticket—purchased either online or offline—to travel on any form of public transport (urban, metropolitan, or express) for up to 60 minutes.

Launched in June 2019, the integrated ticketing system resulted in a 20% increase in total passenger numbers, along with a rise in the overall number of trips.

For a comprehensive overview of this best practice—including required resources, evidence of success, transferability potential, and expert insights—please refer to the project’s publication dated 12 July 2022.
