Casalina is a trans-local community based in Spinazzola and Brussels. They address emerging social and environmental challenges, embodying a global dynamic transition. A social agriculture project launched by the BSR Collective in Puglia, Italy, that represents more than just a farm - it serves as a community hub fostering solidarity, resilience, and knowledge-sharing. By revitalising an abandoned farmhouse through reforestation, permaculture, and sustainable agriculture, Casalina creates a model for sustainable rural development. It supports migrant workers, provides essential services, and engages the local community in climate action. As part of the Communities for Climate (C4C) initiative, Casalina demonstrates how proximity economy and social economy principles can drive meaningful environmental and social change.

Casalina is a pioneering initiative dedicated to socially oriented territorial regeneration, rural well-being, and the promotion of a regenerative green transition. Established with the vision of revitalizing an underused rural space and supporting migrant workers, particularly seasonal agricultural laborers, Casalina integrates the principles of circular economy and greening infrastructures into its operations. It provides essential aid to migrants while also welcoming individuals and organizations who wish to contribute to its mission, fostering solidarity and community ties.

Casalina has successfully created a thriving hub for green and local initiatives, strengthening community engagement while implementing eco-friendly construction practices and promoting a sustainable business model. It is an inclusive and participatory network of like-minded individuals and enterprises committed to regenerative green transition and social innovation.

In 2025, Casalina is embarking on a transformative journey into syntropic agriculture with the launch of Syntrolina, a resilient agricultural laboratory designed to support its own farming initiatives and those of its extended network, La Restanza, a community of local farmers. Syntrolina integrates permaculture and regenerative agroforestry to restore degraded soils while ensuring food security.

Casalina also participates in the Communities for Climate (C4C) initiative, a European Commission pilot supporting citizen-led climate action. In collaboration with Climate Pact Ambassadors, Casalina engages communities in innovative solutions to combat climate change and its social impacts, reinforcing its commitment to a resilient and inclusive green transition.
