The CLIC project (Circular models Leveraging Investments in Cultural heritage adaptive reuse), funded by the EU and coordinated by the National Research Council of Italy, was part of the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. Running from December 1, 2017, to August 31, 2021, the project aimed to close the investment gap and prevent heritage decay by identifying and promoting innovative ‘circular’ financing, business, and governance models. Key outcomes included a final conference showcasing project results, the development and testing of innovative governance models, the CLIC Knowledge and Information Hub, Local Action Plans for the adaptive reuse of cultural heritage as part of a circular city strategy, and several pilot projects.
