RURITAGE, a four-year research initiative funded by the European Union and inaugurated in June 2018, endeavored to facilitate rural regeneration through the utilization of heritage. The primary objective was to foster sustainable development at both regional and community levels by leveraging local heritage assets. The project sought to rejuvenate rural areas by employing the Systemic Innovation Areas (SIA) framework, a methodology designed to identify unique heritage opportunities within rural communities.
