The Respira Project is an innovative initiative working to establish renewable energy communities (RECs) across various regions in Italy, both urban and rural. With a focus on sustainability and renewable energy, Respira aims to foster environmentally friendly practices while also benefiting local economies.

Supported by Legacoop, a national cooperative association, along with Coopfond and Banca Etica, Respira is at the forefront of creating cooperative models in the energy sector. These models not only promote the use of clean energy but also build a strong, collaborative ecosystem that includes Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), local governments, and financial institutions.

Key areas of focus for the project include feasibility studies, technical and legal support, capital raising, and operational management. These activities are designed to ensure the creation and success of renewable energy communities, with an emphasis on cooperation, community involvement, and innovation.

In just one year, the Respira project has achieved impressive results, establishing 40 cooperative RECs, developing over 100 energy configurations, and installing more than 6 MW of renewable energy capacity. This success highlights the project's potential to drive significant change in both the energy and social sectors, creating a sustainable future for communities across Italy.
