SmartCulTour (Smart Cultural Tourism for Sustainable Development of European Regions) was a four-year project funded by the European Union under Horizon 2020. Running from January 1, 2020, to June 2023, the initiative aimed to transform cultural tourism by involving stakeholders in the co-creation of innovative practices. The project’s goal was to enhance regional development across Europe by fostering sustainable cultural tourism, especially in areas rich in cultural heritage, whether rural or urban. Key outcomes included a comprehensive decision-support system (DSS) for effective regional monitoring, regional development strategies, and sustainable tourism practices.
