The STAR Cities project, part of the Interreg Europe programme, ran from June 1st, 2018 to May 31st, 2023. It aimed to enhance river tourism in five European cities: Bucharest (Romania), Hamburg (Germany), Kaunas (Lithuania), Rome (Italy), and Paris - Val-de-Marne (France). The project’s goal was to boost these cities’ appeal by promoting their natural and cultural heritage and fostering sustainable tourism development, thereby helping to alleviate congestion in their crowded centers. Additionally, the project aligned with the goals of the Ile-de-France Regional Tourism and Leisure Development Plan (RTLDP) to strengthen and diversify the region’s tourism and leisure offerings.
