Danes je nov dan leverages open-source tools, digital platforms, and data visualisation to increase civic agency and public scrutiny. The organisation’s work is characterised by an agile, collaborative approach, which brings together technologists, designers, activists, and policy experts.

Key initiatives include:

Parlameter: A digital platform that tracks and visualises parliamentary activity in real time. It enables citizens to monitor voting patterns, attendance, speech content, and alignment with party agendas.

Civic Campaigns: The group has launched numerous public campaigns advocating for transparency, media freedom, and environmental justice, often through humour, art, and accessible digital content.

Digital Rights Advocacy: The organisation actively defends digital rights, including privacy, freedom of expression, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence.

Open Source Development: All tools developed by Danes je nov dan are released under open licences, allowing replication and adaptation by other civil society actors.

The organisation has significantly contributed to fostering democratic culture and participatory governance in Slovenia. Tools like Parlameter have been adapted in other countries, illustrating the scalability of grassroots digital infrastructure. Through partnerships with journalists, NGOs, and local governments, Danes je nov dan has strengthened transparency and accountability in public life.

Danes je nov dan demonstrates how civic tech can support just and democratic transitions by enhancing transparency, citizen oversight, and informed participation. Its open-source, citizen-centred methodology aligns with principles of co-creation and social innovation, making it a compelling case of how digital tools can support socio-political transformation at local and regional scales.

“We believe technology should serve the people — not the other way around. By making politics more transparent and accessible, we empower citizens to reclaim their voice in democracy."
