Advanced materials are intentionally designed and engineered materials with innovative properties and functionalities, which can be used in products from wearable electronic devices to electric vehicles.

The Act will support the research and innovation (R&I) process, from design and development to manufacturing and deployment, while at the same time addressing key issues, such as the lengthy time from the design until deployment and commercialisation, and the expansion of production capacities of advanced materials in the EU. It will streamline regulatory processes, boost EU competitiveness, and foster a more sustainable and circular economy.
