On 27 November, stakeholders from across Europe participated in an online webinar exploring European funding mechanisms and the emerging skills needs essential for the chemical industry’s green and digital transition. The 45-minute session was organised under the Transition Pathways for Chemicals Stakeholder Platform, supporting the implementation of the Transition Pathway for the Chemical Industry.

During the 45-minute session, participants received an overview of the main EU programmes supporting the chemical sector, including Horizon Europe, the Innovation Fund, InvestEU, Digital Europe, LIFE, SMP, Erasmus+, and national/regional cohesion funds. The presentation also highlighted relevant open calls and examples of funded projects.

A dedicated section focused on skills needs, drawing on insights from the ChemSkills project. Key skill areas discussed included green and circular skills, digital competencies, Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design, and energy-transition capabilities, along with guidance on where EU programmes can support upskilling and reskilling.

The webinar concluded with an introduction to the Transition Pathways for Chemicals Stakeholder Platform, which offers resources, updates, and engagement opportunities to support implementation of the Transition Pathway.
