The Building Decarbonisation Partnership is advancing the identification of key focus areas for decarbonising the built environment. During recent meetings on 18 February and 18 March 2025, partners collaborated to define strategic themes based on an ex-ante assessment, which highlights challenges like integrated renovation, future energy systems, and cost-effective solutions. Key themes that emerged from co-creative sessions included multi-level governance in heating and cooling, citizen engagement, heat pump readiness, financial solutions for renovations, digital tools, and innovative business models. These discussions are helping narrow the Partnership's priorities to ensure alignment with stakeholders’ expertise.

Looking ahead, the first in-person meeting is scheduled for 26-27 May in Mechelen, Belgium, to further develop implementation strategies. The Partnership is also exploring upcoming EU funding opportunities, such as the EU LIFE programme, to support future initiatives.
