The study analyses the relationship between the Building Energy Rating of a home at the time of sale and the property’s sale price. The research matches sales price information with BER data, population statistics and publicly available spatial data, covering approximately 50,000 homes sold in Ireland during 2023 and 2024.
The findings indicate a general relationship between improved BER performance and higher property sale prices. The report also notes that energy upgrades may provide benefits such as improved warmth and comfort, lower energy costs and increased asset value.
