Labour and skills shortages in the construction sector are persistent and high in most of the EU Member States. FIEC has been dealing with this issue for many years and will continue to do so. The main activities related to this issue will be to monitor the situation in the EU Member States, to cooperate with EU stakeholders (EURES, ELA, European Commission) and to discuss it during social dialogue meetings. As mentioned in their work programme, FIEC and EFBWW, the European social partner of the construction sector, will continue to explore how digitalization and the green transition will transform the construction industry and the impact on skills. A key focus will be on advocating for continuous sustainable financial investments and the strengthening of lifelong learning to reskill and upskill workers and attract new talent.

Block 2: Skills

2.2 Support EU-level skills initiatives;

2.5 Support upskilling via procurement;

2.6 Support attractiveness of employment;

2.7 Follow-up Pact for Skills commitments;

2.8 Deliver Blueprint for Skills;

2.11 Promote diversity in the ecosystem
