Adopted by the European Parliament and the Council on 11 April 2024, the Regulation establishes common standards for host registration schemes, the verification of registration numbers by online platforms and the monthly transfer of activity data to public authorities. It also amends Regulation (EU) 2018/1724 to integrate short-term rental data flows into the Single Digital Gateway architecture. Operating on an opt-in/opt-out basis, the act binds Member States that choose to introduce registration or data-reporting requirements to follow the common EU rules, ensuring consistency across the internal market.
