In 2019, the number of residential arrivals at accommodation establishments in Germany peaked at 151.4 million. However, this figure dropped to 85.2 million in 2021 due to the pandemic. Despite this significant decrease, the average length of stay increased from 2.7 days in 2019 to 3.3 days in 2021. The highest demand from foreign countries in 2021 came from the Netherlands and Switzerland.
