The Hungarian Central Statistical Office reports that in 2023, the most popular destinations for Hungarian citizens’ outbound trips were Austria, accounting for 34.1% of all trips, and Slovakia, making up 20.4%. Austria and Germany were the top choices for the longest stays and highest total expenditures, collectively representing 28.1% and 28.4% of the total duration and costs, respectively. There was a significant increase in the total number of trips in 2023, with a 16.9% rise compared to 2022 and a substantial 65.4% surge compared to 2020.
