In 2023, Istat reported a total of 133.6 million tourists visiting the country, with 67.9 million (representing 50.8%) coming from abroad. The majority of international visitors were from Germany, accounting for 19.9% of foreign tourists, followed by the United States at 11.1%, and France at 8.2%. Istat, the Italian National Institute of Statistics, offers a comprehensive and regularly updated statistical database.
