According to the National Statistics Office of Malta, in 2023, 814,005 Maltese tourists traveled abroad, which is 35.3% more than in 2022 and 15.2% more than in 2019. These travelers collectively spent over 5.6 million nights in other countries, with a total expenditure of nearly EUR 734.8 million on their trips. The most visited countries among Maltese citizens were Italy (accounting for 37.0% of all Maltese tourists), followed by the United Kingdom (at 11.4%) and Spain (at 6.3%). This consistent trend in the choices of Maltese tourists indicates a preference for these destinations.
