In January 2025, hotels accounted for approximately 73.6% (192.8 million EUR) of the total revenue generated in Portugal’s tourist accommodation sector, with 40.6% of that coming from the Área Metropolitana de Lisboa. This represents a 15.0% increase compared to January 2024 and a 26.0% increase compared to January 2023. Other types of tourist accommodation establishments contributing to the total income in January 2025 include local accommodations (8.6%), apartment hotels (8.5%), and rural tourism and lodging establishments (3.3%).
