Share

In 2018, Latvia’s tourism industry reached its highest economic significance since 2004, contributing 4.9% to the total gross value added. Other indicators showed tourism’s contribution to the economy ranging from 5.0% to 10.3% in terms of tourism characteristic industries’ share in total gross value added, and from 5.3% to 8.1% in terms of their share in total output. However, in 2021, due to the pandemic and market restrictions, these values dropped significantly, with tourism’s share in total gross value added falling to 2.6%, which is 2.3% less than in 2019. Overall, the pandemic had a severe impact on the country’s economy. More detailed data is available in the Central Statistical Office of Latvia’s public database, which can be accessed free of charge and customized to meet individual needs.
