In 2022, Statbel reported that online platforms facilitated the booking of 856.0 thousand accommodations, leading to a total of 8,624,000 overnight stays by tourists. This figure indicates a significant growth of 32.3% from the previous year, setting a new record for the highest number of overnight stays in private accommodations booked online since the inception of this experimental statistic in 2018. The Flemish Region hosted nearly half of these stays, accounting for 48.5% of the total, while Brussels-Capital remained the district of choice for most tourists, with a 19.3% share.
