BASF will purchase green power on the market through long-term supply agreements with plant operators, green power agreements or renewable energy certificates, depending on the region and market regulations. A key purchasing criterion is the “additionality” of the electricity purchased. This means that electricity is primarily sourced from new renewable energy facilities. We signed several power-purchase agreements recently in Europe with:
1. Ørsted: 186 megawatts (until next 25 years)
2. ENGIE: ~21 megawatts (until next 25 years).
