Sika's success over the last 113 years is based on its long-lasting tradition of innovation and development of quality products / solutions for its customers. We aim to grow as technology leader using the principles of sustainable development to enable new designs for customers and offer an answer for today's and tomorrow’ s challenges. Sika’s capability to address sustainability megatrends is evaluated from a life-cycle perspective along the value chain.
An example: Purform® is the technology brand of Sika’s new polyurethane platform combining “Pure,”“Polyurethane” and “Performance.” Purform® changes the very core of polyurethane sealants and adhesives and is based on newly engineered, perfect prepolymers. These new Purform® prepolymers enable the creation of high-performance products with <0.1% monomeric diisocyanate content, minimize user exposure and eliminate the need for REACH safety trainings. This technology contributes to Sika’s Net Zero targets. Sika is committed to reach net zero not later than 2050, in line with the Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi). The commitment focuses on two time horizons for both scope 1 and 2 as well as scope 3 with a near-term interim target by 2032, and a net zero target by 2050. Link: Sika's Way to Net Zero.
