The report by the World Tourism Organization, released in March 2024, aims to assist governmental tourism agencies in developing policies and initiatives that support the sector’s low-carbon transition, thereby addressing climate change. This policy guidance offers a comprehensive overview of the global climate situation, the impact of tourism, and the role of national tourism administrations (NTAs) in climate action. It includes examples of good practices from around the world, guidelines for tourism policies focused on climate action, opportunities for climate-aware promotion, and options for financing and new partnerships to implement changes. The report demonstrates how NTAs can implement climate-friendly policies and initiatives and benefit from climate actions in other sectors.
