The tourism ecosystem currently lacks regular risk sensing activities and a unified risk assessment framework, hindering its ability to prepare for unforeseen events. Establishing a common framework would provide standardised tools and guidance for destination management organisations and tourism businesses across the EU, building on existing materials from the EU Academy. This framework would facilitate the identification of potential risks, impact assessment, and development of mitigation strategies, thereby enhancing preparedness and resilience within the ecosystem. By promoting proactive measures and crisis management, it could minimise disruptions and strengthen overall resilience. Additionally, this framework could be adapted for use in other industries, broadening its impact.
