Stakeholders in the tourism ecosystem lack skills and awareness in using data for development, resilience building, and crisis preparedness, which hinders informed decision-making. To address this issue, a data literacy program is needed to improve understanding of data sources, indicators, tools, and their applications among public and private tourism organisations. European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) can play a crucial role in addressing these digital challenges and enhancing competitiveness, as they are well-positioned to deliver targeted data literacy training due to their regional presence and pan-European network. By implementing a data literacy program through EDIHs, tourism organisations will be empowered to utilise data-driven approaches for crisis management and strategic planning effectively.
