Since 2019, DTU Management—a department at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) focused on research, education, and innovation at the intersection of management, technology, and economics—has published the Danish National Travel Survey. This annual statistical report provides data on travel behaviour among Danish residents and supports research in transport and mobility planning. The survey categorises data into four areas: modes of transport, purpose of travel, commuting, and socioeconomics.

For instance, the 2024 edition, released on 22 April 2025, is based on 11,686 interviews. It shows that the most common mode of travel among Danish residents is driving a car (43.9% of respondents), while only 7.5% use collective transport options such as trains, buses, or combinations thereof. Leisure travel accounted for the highest share of trips (37.3%), whereas business travel was the least common reason (5.4%).

The national-level survey results are available free of charge and can be accessed via the link provided on the left-hand side of the platform.
