The WTTC, in collaboration with STGC, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism, and Oxford Economics, has released a report assessing the global environmental impact of tourism. The study investigates five key areas: greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, water consumption, air pollutants, and material extraction. It analyzes changes in the environmental footprint due to tourism activity across 185 economies, 18 regions, and four income levels from 2010 to 2021. Each chapter provides both absolute and relative data, explores current trends, and examines regional differences. Published in October 2023, the report is available for free upon registration.
