The latest Long-Haul Travel Barometer (LHTB) 3/2024, published by the European Travel Commission (ETC) in collaboration with Eurail B.V. in September 2024, indicates that 58% of respondents plan to travel long-haul between September and December 2024, with 40% aiming to visit Europe - a 4% decline from last year. Affordability remains the primary barrier to traveling to Europe, while safety, iconic landmarks, and quality infrastructure are the top three factors influencing the choice of a European holiday destination. The report also provides insights into travel intentions and barriers, planning details, and attitudes towards responsible travel among potential travelers from Australia, Brazil, China, Canada, Japan, South Korea (a new market), and the US. The findings are based on 1,000 interviews conducted in these markets every four months.
