The European Travel Commission’s report highlights promising prospects for European travel in 2024. International tourism is expected to surpass pre-pandemic levels, with a 6-8% increase in both tourist arrivals and overnights during Q1 compared to 2019. This growth is significant for the industry and livelihoods dependent on tourism. However, challenges remain, including resource pressures and limited carbon-friendly transportation options for cross-border travel. The quarterly reports aim to assist destination managers and industry professionals in tracking short-term tourism progression and identifying key travel trends across Europe.
