As of early 2024, European air passenger traffic has rebounded to pre-pandemic levels, with intra-European travel seeing notable growth. Hotel performance in Europe has surpassed all global regions except the Middle East and Africa, driven primarily by increased room rates.

The latest report on European travel and hotel performance reveals a strong recovery in air passenger traffic, reaching 2019 levels. European hotels have outperformed most global regions this year, thanks to a rise in room rates. Trends indicate a growing preference for off-the-beaten-track destinations and rail travel, alongside heightened price sensitivity among travelers. Noteworthy performances include significant growth in arrivals to Albania, Serbia, and Montenegro, with the US showing doubled arrivals to Portugal. Conversely, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic have experienced declines. This snapshot underscores a dynamic travel landscape with both opportunities and challenges.
