The Joint Research Centre report explores how climate change is expected to affect tourism demand across Europe, with a particular focus on coastal regions. The study uses data from 269 European regions over a 20-year period and simulates future impacts under different warming scenarios and emissions pathways. It reveals various topics, including impact on coastal regions, seasonal shifts, economic implications, and sustainable tourism practices. In addition, the report provides recommendations for policymakers about development of climate-friendly tourism. It concludes that by promoting sustainable practices and preparing for shifts in tourism demand, Europe can mitigate the economic impacts and ensure the long-term viability of its tourism industry.
