The Tourism and Climate Change Stocktake, presented after a year of extensive international collaborations, follows the TPCC Foundation Report from COP27 in November 2022. This Stocktake was conducted by over 60 global experts who evaluated tourism's climate action across mitigation, adaptation, policy, and finance. The findings indicate an urgent need for the tourism sector to significantly reduce emissions, enhance climate resilience, and foster international collaboration to meet the Paris Climate Agreement goals. The report poses critical questions about tourism's future in a net-zero world and emphasizes the need for integrated, multi-sector approaches and increased climate finance. In light of 2023's unprecedented climate records, the Stocktake aims to spur a transformative response towards climate-resilient global tourism.
