The Federal Ministry of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) of the Republic of Austria released a practitioner’s guide in November 2024 to encourage tourism destinations to adopt eco-friendly mobility solutions. The guide provides practical strategies to meet the growing demand for sustainable transport options among travellers, promoting walking, cycling, e-mobility, sharing, and improved public transport. It outlines current trends, areas of action for eco-friendly mobility, and steps for implementation, from concept to execution. Overall, the guide serves as a roadmap for tourism destinations to transition to sustainable mobility.
