The Directive 2004/38/EC was provided by the European Parliament and the Council in April, 2004. It gives EU citizens and members of their families the freedom to travel around and live wherever in a Member State's territory. The directive's principal applications are in promoting integration, facilitating cross-border travel inside the EU, and protecting the rights and freedom of movement of EU citizens and their families.
