The European Commission presented a proposal to revise the visa suspension mechanism (11) in October 2023. It seeks to strengthen the temporary suspension of the visa exemption for nationals of third countries listed in Annex II. The main goal is to enhance the Union's safeguard against irregular migration, public policy risks, security threats and abuse of visa exemptions through investor citizenship schemes by those third countries.
